The Castle on King (Moore College Revue vid)
Thursday, August 19th, 2010For me, this was one of the highlights of the revue – a very well done parody. You might even enjoy it if you’re not from around these parts!

Competed with friends at the Marly’s pub trivia tonight – came equal 3rd…Was pretty good fun!
Totally up for trying it again, perhaps at a different pub to gauge the relative quality.
Learned that PNG is the largest producer of sweet potatoes per capita!

Well it’s not sydneyanglicans but it may be as close as I get – a photo on the Moore college website:
I’m calling it for now, but still holding out a glimmer of hope that I’ll hit the big time

Tried this on the weekend – ‘overnight slow roasted pork’. (+ variation)
I cooked it for most of the day, rather than over night and we ended up using a smaller portion of meat (~3kg) and scaled as in the linked recipe. Turned out very moist and extremely tender after 9 (!) hours of cooking. The mashed veg that you end up with is also delicious.
This apple sauce and these smashed roast potatoes worked a treat as accompaniments.
Jodie cooked a very delicious lemon delicious pudding. Almost lemon fantastic!
I like this sort of cooking when having people over – it’s a fairly easy recipe and most importantly for entertaining can mostly be prepared ahead of time. I had the apple sauce made and the potatoes boiled in the morning – ready to pop in 30 min’s before we ate. Perhaps best of all, you can get cheap meat – because you’re cooking it so long its going to be tender and tasty!
