WordPress plugins I like (and you might too)

I’m a big fan of wordpress, and I know a number of you use it too…

so here are a few plugins which I think you might want to use.

1. Backup wordpress

If you are self-hosting your site (i.e. its not at wordpress.com etc) you should really get this going in case you suffer a crash or get hacked. Set it to back up weekly or similar. It can send the files to a gmail account.

2. Login lock-down

Add some protection against hackers guessing your password.

3. Google analytics plugin

If you like graphs and statistics, this is a lot more detailed than the built in stats. Also you can display them nicely in the dashboard using Analytics360

Which plugins do you recommend?

  1. There’s one called Insights which is particularly useful for pulling in content from old posts and around the web via your new post page. It is really spectacular.

  3. Thanks for the heads up on the Backup plugin!

I’m just setting up a new blog and I’m sure it will come in handy.

  4. Just a heads up, the backup plugin freaked out my blog so I had to delete the file. Probably just an issue with the template.

  5. Hi Calum, sounds weird!!? I have it going fine with the latest wordpress release. It might not work for a wordpress.com hosted site, but i see that you’re moving to self hosting so i suppose this is not your problem?

Anyway, thanks for the comments and I hope you find a backup solution that works for you!
