Chocolate mug cake recipe

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

img_0748

Promised a while back. After many variations I now have a recipe that i’m happy with. It is more pudding-like than cake but yum-per-minute-of-preparation factor is high. very high.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons SR flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (castor is good if you have it)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons softened butter
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 tablespoon choc chips (not melts, the little chip ones…melts dont melt quick enough!!)
  • 1 large mug

Method:

  • Mix the sugar and butter together with a fork until it is kinda creamed – i’ve found this gives a better buttery consistency to the final product.
  • Add dry ingredients to the mug…mix well.
  • Crack egg into mug. mix well, scrape bottom to avoid any pockets of flour in the corners.
  • Pour in the milk and vanilla essence. mix well.
  • Add the choc-chips and stir a tiny bit. not too much or they all go to the bottom.
  • Pop your mug into the microwave & zap for 2.5 minutes on high.

Use mits when you get it out of the m/wave – get’s really hot. I tip it out of the mug into a bowl and eat with cream or ice cream. you could eat it straight from the mug if that’s how you roll.

enjoy!! Love to hear how it goes for you.

$30 Dates

red-button

Boxy is da man. He told me about thirtydollardatenight.com and we put it to the test.

After pressing the big red button we were instructed to ‘learn to make sushi, and hire lost in translation’. We already know how to make sushi, but we did have a hankering to head out for some Jap. Strictly speaking the date didn’t cost $30 but it was tasty and fun.

Sushi Masa was v.good quality for the price if you live around college (it’s on Pyrmont Bridge road, Camperdown) Get the flying fish row sushi if you’re feeling adventurous!

Lost in Translation was still good the second time.

Logos Bible software

logo

Some of you in 2nd year may not have purchased Bible software yet. Bibleworks and Accordance are the college recommended products, but Logos seems to compare feature-wise and was a bit cheaper.

We got the ‘original languages collection’ ($294 @ the ‘rong with student discount) + BDAG + Wallace (~$275AUD from the logos online shop).

So we got UBS4, BHS, BDAG and Wallace for about $570 and so far have been really happy with using it.

It runs on PC or MAC.

Opera House/Enmore theatre update

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

well i’m back after a bit of blog silence…have felt tired and busy lately. But i think i’m up for some more regular posting action.

So to my first item. You may wonder how the opera house went (alternatively you may not wonder and/or care – fair enough…)

Sadly it didn’t go at all. I really should have checked the date more carefully – when booking the tickets it turned out that it was actually on sunday, and not saturday as i originally thought. I was leading the service at church, so that one didn’t fly!

As for the Jaxx @ enmore a few days later, we also ended up with clashing engagements – this time at the very entertaining and delicious ‘Coopers Hotel’ on king street for Adele’s 30th birthday. (link to Simon, her husband’s blog).

Had a great time eating delicious chinese style roasted pork belly and talking christianity and conspiracy theories with James Brennan and one of the guests, Barry.

…I’m adding the opera house to the list
