Gosh do I miss those prices and those games. Now we are all spoiled with life-like graphics and detailed story lines. What ever happened to just the plain Jane Donkey Kong game! I love technology, don't get me wrong, but I think sometimes we go over board!

I recently bought a "Pin Head" from a Good Will store for $2.50. Meanwhile we also bought a PS3, a TV cabinet that lifts the Tv out and a bunch of games and movies. The "Pin Head" is talked about more than anything else. Should of gotten two.

Read more on my blog too.

@marty: Sweet! you should def. hang onto it. forget rings, SNES is the new family heirloom.

If storage becomes a problem though you could downsize to this:

<a href=http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/10/new-snes-portable-is-heavy-on-the-snes-light-on-the-portable/ rel="nofollow">portable SNES</a>

I got a SNES for my 9th or 10th birthday, with the original Donkey Kong Country. I remember thinking that one day I might pass it on to my kids.... hah! It still works, it's still possible. We also grew up with a C64, such benefits of having older siblings.

Ahh, the good ol' SNES days... Although That would have been $130 US (Hills was a US based department store) - so around $190 AUD...

I think that's around what we paid for mine back in good ol' 1995...

genius! it's even got the sonic music!!

I think you can emulate the mega drive on pc's/macs these days and play the real thing. I had SNES + super mario going on my X-Box a while ago. Fun, but not the same as playing it on the real thing though!!

Same here Hayley - got hand-me-downs from my cousin and played around on friends. This is pretty bad i know, but i remember i made friends with one guy just because i knew he had a C64! lame!

I think my fave on Atari (2600?) was keystone capers. simple and stupid but strangely addictive.

And Geoff - i'm with you for Alex kid in miracle world! I loved the song and the little motor bike that he rode. did you get into Sonic? ...it is "the sonic system" after all...
